Speaking of white guilt…
Is anyone else of the opinion that Paul Haggis’ Crash was the epitome of white guilt? It was essentially Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing; a crash course (sorry I couldn’t resist) in white guilt for dummies. Suddenly people were giving change to bums, mothers were no longer covering up their babies’ eyes when a black guy walked by…gimme a fucking break. Not only did Crash do a disservice to David Cronenberg’s Crash in terms of recognition and association, but it robbed Brokeback Mountain for best picture that year. smh.
